|Please activate your account by clicking on the verification link in the e-mail that was sent to your registered e-mail address. If the email doesn't appear in your inbox, don't forget to check your spam folder. You should be able to log in once your e-mail address has been verified. |Does Razer Cortex require Internet connection to function?|
|Razer Cortex requires an Internet connection to login. Once logged in, you no longer need an Internet connection to use most of the features on Razer Cortex.|
|What does Offline mode do and how do I activate it?|
Offline mode allows you to use Cortex without having to connect to our Razer Servers. This mode is particularly useful if you do not have an internet connection, or would prefer not to be notified of new updates.
To activate offline mode, click your user name and select "GO OFFLINE."
Note that the following features will not be accessible when in offline mode:
|How can I set my own Hotkeys for Razer Cortex's functions?|
|To change one of the hotkeys, click on the hotkey box then hold down a modifier key (Ctrl, Shift, and/or Alt) and any regular key (1-0, A-Z) you wish to use for that function. The new key combination will immediately appear. To save the new hotkey, simply click outside the hotkey box.|
|How much does Razer Cortex cost?|
|Absolutely nothing! We are providing this software as an added value to all our Razer fans/community for their continued support and dedication to Razer.|
|I am a Razer Cortex user, how can I provide feedback?|

|What languages does Razer Cortex support?|
|At the moment, we support English, Russian, French, Spanish, Portuguese-Brazilian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, German, Korean and Japanese. If you want us to support other languages, please send us a feedback and we'll see what we can do about it.|
|Where can I find the user manual in Razer Cortex?|
|You can access the Razer Cortex user guide by heading to the Settings menu (cog wheel icon on the top left) and click "About", then select the User Guide option. Alternatively, you can download the User Guide here.|
|I forgot my password, how can I reset it?|
|Please visit https://ec.razerzone.com/requestreset. You'll need to enter your registered e-mail address and successfully complete an image verification test. An e-mail will be sent to your registered e-mail address with instructions to reset your password.|
|How can I change the email address I have associated with my Razer ID?|
|Unfortunately, the e-mail address associated with your Razer ID cannot be changed at this time.|
|One of my games isn't showing up in my Games section, why is this happening and how can I add it?|
|Upon startup, Razer Cortex automatically scans your PC for installed games. If your game isn't showing up, it might not be supported. To manually add games select the "Plus" icon on the games tab. If your game doesn't appear in the list of known applications, click "Add Games" to import the .exe file of the game you want to add.|
|How can I customize my Games tab?|
You can customize both the game tiles' appearance and the order in which they are displayed. To change the appearance of your game tiles, click on the game, and select the ellipsis icon. You can change the cover art, add a cover art, and even change the title if you're feeling creative.
To mark a game as a favorite, click on the game tile and select the "Star" icon. Your favorite games will be shown before other games in your library.
|How are games ordered in my Games tab?|
|Games are firstly ordered by favorites and non favorites. Within each category games are ordered by total time played, with the most recently played games showing first. If there isn't game time logged in to your games, they will be alphabetically ordered.|
|What is Razer Cortex: Deals?|
|Razer Cortex: Deals is a price comparison engine that tracks gaming deals and shows you the prices of digitally downloadable games across the top online game stores. A game's best price is clearly highlighted allowing you to save both time and money.|
|How often are prices scanned?|
|Each store is scanned every hour to make sure you're looking at the latest prices.|
|What stores does Razer Cortex: Deals scan?|
Prices are compared for games on the following stores in the US region:
|I don't live in North America, why isn't my region supported?|
Razer Cortex: Deals is in beta and in the process of expanding to as many regions as possible. We want to be sure that the top stores for each region are included. Why can't I buy games on Razer Cortex: Deals? Because Razer Cortex: Deals is a price comparison engine, the purchasing portion is left to the stores themselves.
The objective of Razer Cortex: Deals is to give you a clear and unbiased view of where to get the best price for your games.
Why are the percentages color coded? What do they mean? The color coded percentages help you distinguish a good deal from a great deal. Orange means you'll enjoy a discount of up to 50%, and Green means you'll be saving even more than 50%! I'm representing a game developer/digital store/publisher and I want our games to appear in Razer Cortex: Deals, who should I talk to? Thank you for your interest! |How does game boosting work?|
When you launch a game or manually trigger boosting, Razer Cortex temporarily shuts down processes your computer doesn't need to run when gaming, freeing up processing power and restoring them once you exit your game or return to normal mode.
|Is there a way for me to control what processes Game Booster shuts down during game play?|
|Yes, head to Boost to see the list of affected processes. Recommended settings are set by default but you can customize the boosting behavior and select each process that is shut down based on your own preference. If you feel lost with all the tinkering, just flip it back to Recommended settings to go back to default.|
|I am unable to boost a certain game with Razer Cortex. Help?|
|We are continuously improving compatibility with all games, but a quick solution would be to use the manual boost button.|
|Do I need to launch my game from Cortex for automatic Boosting to work?|
|No. As long as your game is recognized by Cortex and Automatic Boost is switched on (default), you can launch your game from Cortex, the start menu or via desktop shortcut with Boosting enabled automatically.|
|Why should I defrag my game files?|
|Defragging your game files will improve loading times for your games. When using Defrag, Razer Cortex efficiently organizes game data on your hard drive in the same location. A word of caution though, if you are using a Solid State Drive (SSD), defragging is not necessary or recommended.|
|What's the Diagnose tool for?|
The Diagnose tool generates a detailed report of your system's components, settings and configurations.
If you're well versed in the ins and outs of your PC this is a great way to get an overview of your computer.
If your knowledge of your hardware isn't so extensive but you're looking to upgrade components, the Diagnose tool is a useful list to show an expert for advice on where your computer needs improvement.
|What does Tweak do?|
|The Tweak utility fine tunes Windows configurations to help your PC run smoother, from increasing the priority of foreground applications, to making your system shut down faster.|
Save Game Manager
|How do I set up Save Game Manager?|
|Head to Boost and open Sync Savegames. Select your cloud storage service of choice and log in to your account. Once your account is linked, saved games will be synced to your cloud storage service folder automatically.|
|How does Save Game Manager back up my saved games in the cloud?|
|Save Game Manager creates a copy of each saved game files that have been selected for back up and then transfers these files to your Cloud Storage Service account.|
|I received a prompt asking me if I want to upload the local game data or download from the cloud. What does this mean?|
|This prompt appears when Save Game Manager detects that there might be a conflict between your local save game and the file saved in the cloud. If you select the option to upload local game data, Save Game Manager will overwrite the file on the cloud using your local save game. If you select to download the files from the cloud storage account, your local save game will be updated to match the one in the cloud.|
|Will Save Game Manager affect my PC's game performance?|
|No, Save Game Manager will only sync your saved games when you quit your game. This way Razer Cortex will only run the syncing process without interfering with the Boosting feature.|
|Not all of my games are being synced to my cloud storage account, why?|
This can be happening for one(1) of two(2) reasons:
By default, Save Game Manager will not back up save games larger than 100MB, to have these files synced to your cloud just select the checkbox for the game in Sync Savegames.
If the game doesn't have automatic back up support, you can manually add the save game location by clicking on the red icon on the left hand side of the game in Sync Savegames.
|What happens when I unlink my cloud storage service account from Razer Cortex?|
|When you unlink your account, Save Game Manager will delete the backup folder that was created in your cloud storage service when you linked your account, however, rest assured that your local saved games will remain safe and untouched.|
|How do I use my Razer Cortex: Gamecaster Pro code?|
|To activate your Razer Cortex: Gamecaster Pro license, go to the "GAMECASTER" section on the Razer Cortex client outside of a game. Click on the "green PRO tags" and select the "UPGRADE NOW" option, fill in the twenty(20) character code and start enjoying your premium Razer Cortex: Gamecaster Pro.|
|The Razer Cortex: Gamecaster in-game overlay isn't showing up in-game, what do I need to do?|
First, make sure that the game you want to run is included in your library in the Games section. Once in your library, click on the game you want to run and verify that "Enable Gamecaster overlay for this game" is selected.
If the overlay still doesn't appear, go to the In-Game section under Gamecaster in the Razer Cortex client, check that Gamecaster is enabled and that "Show Gamecaster overlay while in-game" is selected.
If you still don't see the overlay, please submit a feedback report.
|The in-game UI is reacting to my mouse while I'm playing, how do I stop this?|
|You can lock the in-game overlay by toggling the clickable/non-clickable overlay feature (default hotkey Ctrl + Tab). This will not disable the hotkeys for the remaining features.|
|How can I make the in-game overlay disappear from my screen?|
|You can toggle the display of the overlay using the Show/Hide overlay hotkey (default Ctrl + `). This will not prevent you from starting your stream, recording video, or taking screenshots.|
|My audio/microphone isn't being recorded correctly, how can I solve this?|
A common solution for this problem is to make sure that the audio devices selected in Gamecaster match the default audio devices activated in your system's sound settings. In the In-Game tab within Gamecaster on the Razer Cortex client click on the advanced settings icon next to DEVICES. Select the Audio and Microphone devices that are set as default in your system's sound settings. You can access the sound settings by right clicking on the volume control icon on your system tray and selecting either Playback or Recording devices.

|Is Razer Cortex: Gamecaster Pro bundled with any Razer products?|
Yes. By registering a Razer Seirēn, Razer Seirēn Pro or Razer Stargazer for warranty, you will receive a Razer Cortex: Gamecaster Pro 3-month license free-of-charge.
Users of the Razer Ripsaw capture card are able to have lifetime access to Pro features as long as they stream gameplay from the Ripsaw.
|How does Razer Cortex: Gamecaster define my settings when they're set to automatic?|
The automatic setting optimizes the quality of the video to minimize the effect on your system. By default, automatic setting will record the game using its native resolution on a standard quality at thirty(30) frames-per-second (FPS).
A quick diagnostic helps determine if your system is able to use hardware encoders (such as "Intel QuickSync" and "Nvidia NVEC"). If hardware encoders are not available, software encoders (such as x264 and openh264) will be used. Since software encoders can have an impact on your system's resources, the automatic settings will try to minimize the effect by systematically lowering the quality and resolution of the recording.For Streaming:
The automatic setting prioritizes the quality of the video stream by using the highest possible resolution at the lowest bit rate. By default, automatic setting will stream in 720p at 2300 kbps.
A quick diagnostic on your PC and internet bandwidth determines if your system can handle the additional load of software encoders (such as x264 and openh264). If your system is not able to handle the load of software encoders, hardware encoders (such as "Intel QuickSync" and "Nvidia NVEC") will be used. If hardware encoders are still not enough, the automatic settings will systematically lower the bitrate (and the resolution if necessary) of the stream until your internet bandwidth is able to handle the stream.
|How do I get the Boost, FPS, video recording, and screenshot features to work in my game?|
From the Cortex main window, click on the Gamecaster tab and enable Gamecaster. You can also take this opportunity to set the hotkeys for screenshots, video recording, and streaming.
For the in-game FPS display, click on the Boost tab and the FPS sub-tab and toggle the Enable FPS button to "On." You can also set the hotkey to toggle the FPS display on and off.
|What file formats can I use for my screenshots?|
|Screenshots can be saved in Bitmap (.BMP), JPEG (.JPG), and Portable Network Graphics (.PNG) formats. The default option is .BMP. To change the type of format used, head to the Screenshot section in the Share tab and select the desired format from Picture Type.|
|What video format can I use for my gameplay videos?|
|Razer Cortex records gameplay videos in Moving Picture Experts Group (.MPEG).|
|Can I change the video's resolution?|
|Yes, to keep it simple you can set resolution to Full, 3/4, half or 1/4. The final resolution of the video will be relative to the resolution settings used for your computer's display.|
|Where are my images and videos saved on my system?|
|By default, Razer Cortex stores your screenshots and videos in your "Documents folder" directory. You can change the save locations for both your Videos and Screenshots by clicking on the Save Location box in the Video Capture and Screenshots sections respectively.|
|How do I use Gamecaster feature to stream my games?|

|Can I use my Razer Ripsaw to stream with Gamecaster?|
|Yes! Ensure that your Ripsaw is plugged into the computer you would like to use to stream and that Razer Synapse is fully updated. Under the Gamecaster tab in Cortex, you should see your Razer Ripsaw with an "open viewer" button. This will allow you to preview and stream devices plugged into your Razer Ripsaw capture card by following the above instructions.|
